Gabby

This is my dog. She loves to be under the blankets. She doesnt like to get her picture taken. I dont think she likes the noise the camera makes. Her former owner committed suicide. He shot himself. He was going through a divorce and he couldnt handle it. I think Gabby may have been there when he did it, because she is afraid of some noises. My grandsons have play guns, when they bring them in here she hides. For a long time I didnt get it, then one day it just hit me...she saw him do it! I feel bad for Gabby and I feel bad for him. I hope wherever he is he knows I am taking good care of his dog. I didnt know him. I got the dog through a friend of his family. Gabby is very friendly and lovable, I can only imagine how scared she was. I can also imagine the agony the man was going through. Suicide has so many repercussions. My girlfriends ex husband committed suicide, his 2 sons were totally devastated, I dont know if they will ever accept it. Some people say its a cowards way out but I dont believe that. I think they must be in so much dispair and pain they dont know what to do. For some reason they dont reach out to anyone. Its like they cant see beyond the pain they are in. I have heard its a permanent solution to a temporary problem...that sounds about right.

What a sad story!

But I'm so glad for Gabby that she ended up in a loving home.

She looks like a little doll.

Buster thinks so too! ;-)

I agree sad story, but an adorable dog!

My sister's dog is scared of loud noises. When I was in HS and our dogs weren't scared of storms until the tornado hit our house after they that were scared and would hide in their beds.

I agree with you, it's no cowards way out!
I would never have the courage to take my own life!

Poor Gabby, that's so sad but she'll be fine with you.

I feel sorry for the dog. I had to minister to four families where the was a suicide. It leaves such pain. One was of a high school girl who was pregnant with her uncle's baby. The students in her grade looked on her as a hero. But she was no more that than she was a coward.

Poor Gabby..I bet she did see him do it.
My cat Gracie was adopted from an animal shelter, and I think she must have been carried away in a plastic bag, as she has a huge fear of them

I will never forget the sound of one of our cops screaming and crying into his cell phone while his friend on the other end shot himself. I am sorry for the enormous pain these people are feeling, but if they could step out of themselves just enough to seek help and see how much they cause by taking their own lives, they wouldn't do it. Poor Gabby, she would have been so confused.

That is a terribly sad story! I think of my pets as my children. They sense when something isn't right about what's going on.
Suicide effects not just the person who commits it, but their family and friends and Pets, too, they have feelings! :-)
Gabby sure is a cutie, and lucky to have you taking care of her!

Gabby is lucky to have you. ''I think they should educate kids in school about gettig along with others and what to do in a situation you do not know how to get out of such as depression, family problems, molestations, etc. I think a lot of people would do better if they only knew what to do. The pronlem is the family is so messed up they cannot help so if it were in schools it might help. I am not saying there is a right or wrong way but the class could offer some solutions to those who are looking.

I believe people who do this feel the people they love will be better off if they were not around so they see it as doing something for their loved ones when of course it does the opposite.

Glad to see that at least the dog has found a good home. In the past three years I have lost three friends and former classmates from suicide. One I had talked to the morning of his suicide. He did not give any signs that I could see. I miss them all and cannot conceive of the despair that they must have felt but kept bottled up.

Suicide is tragic and painful for those who knew the person. I am glad that you are the one that has cute Gabby.

Hi Catch, my cat hates the sound of the coffee grinder and plastic bags. I don't like to think why? He was a pound kitty, you never know what kind of life he had before coming to me.

But I am pretty sure plastic bags played a part....

I wonder if pets remember for long, I have often wondered that.....I don't know.

I had a friend, well actually two who committed suicide, one was young, one was old. suicide done for very different reasons, but in both cases I have often wondered if they could have just gotten through it if they would have been glad they still had their life? I personally find life to precious to ever think of ending it,, but then I have not yet ever been that depressed.

Such a sad story. Gabby is adorable. Is that a Pekingese?
Suicide is tragic! My first husband and luv of my life put a gun to his head. (not while we were married, several yrs. later though) I miss him terribly.
Although this is definately an act of desperation, it is not a couragous thing to do. In life, we are all put into situations!
Only the strong survive!!!

What a sweeie. Sugar loves to be under the covers too! Poor baby lost her daddy but has a wonderful new mommy! I am so glad you and your mom gave her a loving home! It is sad about her old owner. I have heard that suicide is to punish those left behind. In some cases I think that migh be true but not always. I think sometimes some people truly are in such despair they can not take it anymore. But I think taking your own life is the one thing God does not forgive. Unless you are in a unusal situation, like extreme pain.

Your doggy is so cute! Dogs are truly loyal, so yes she is probably affected by her previous owners suicide in some way! Take care!
