ThIs aNd ThAt

Today we have to meet with Sandman ( anestheseologist..probably spelled wrong). Yesterday while we were at the hospital she had all her pre op testing done. So when they called yesterday to tell me we had to meet with Sandman at 1pm today and have some testing done I said she already had her testing done. She said "well, they will want to do an EKG", I said" she had one done yesterday." She said "well they will want their own done b/c of her age". Now this is bullshit, she just had one done yesterday....how much can things change in one day? I think its all a money scam. So when we go there today...I am going to protest another EKG. I always heard you can have a perfect EKG and drop dead of a heart attack the next day so how important is an EKG anyway? It obviously doesnt tell much. They are just going to have to use the one they took yesterday. And yes, I do believe EKG's have merit...but 2 in 2 days? When the problem is your wrist? I am sure it will be an interesting trip today.

When the ER Doc came into the room with Moms x-rays yesterday ( and he was a very nice and personable Doctor) I told him I was a Doctor up in Cleveland. ( I always like to inject some humor in any given situation). he said " what do you think of your Moms x-rays?? I said" well, it doesnt look too bad, at least its not broke." He said " well, you couldnt be more.....WRONG! It is badly broken....and we all had a good laugh( not about Moms wrist but about my attempt to play the Doctor card).....it kinda runs in the family, it seems when we are scared or worried about something we tend to make jokes. When my Father had his heart attack and we all rushed to the hospital because we were scared senseless and none of us were making jokes or even smiling, I finally got to go back and see him, there he was with IV's and machines all over the place, I was totally out of my element, not knowing what to do or say. I bit my lip to keep from crying...at that point we werent even sure he would survive. Dad looked up at me and said " Well, Catch, I think its time to get the will out and read it." And as scared as I was ,I had to laugh, because I recognized his attempt at trying to inject some humor in a scary situation that was out of our control. Father had his heart surgery done in a hospital in Pittsburg, and one day my brother was in the elevator, after visiting with my Father, and he had his pager on and it was going off and he looked at the person next to him and said..."when your a heart Doctor you never get a moments peace" the guy said " oh, are you a heart surgeon?" my brother said " no Im more of a heart breaker". LoL

Mom is doing fine, not in a lot of pain, but Im sure after they put the pins in her wrist Thursday she is going to have some discomfort. Oh well, she has a good nurse...ME. I keep her very comfortable, with a glass of ice water at her side, making sure the recliner is adjusted just right for her to be comfortable with her favorite tv show on. Hey! Its my turn...she took excellant care of me for years, now I can return the favor. All kinds of people stopped in yesterday when we got home to make sure she was ok...these are the things I love about a small town. And as I said..it could have been worse, she could have broke her hip or busted her head on that railroad tie. There are always things to be thankful for. She looked like a prize fighter last night with her lip..the longer she had it the worse it looked!

So hopefully things will go smooth tomorrow, I will keep you posted.Keep Mom in your prayers please!

catch , your karma points just keep going up and up and up!

its a sign for your mama too, you know,

You are this good to her becuase she was good to you.

Its a push and nudge at me to take more time with my boys at this age,

they may not remember what I do with them, but they will remember me with them, and in turn, be nice to me whan I am older, eh?

also
seems when we are scared or worried about something we tend to make jokes.

this is how I deal with ALL my problems. I make it into a joke.

BUT - I do hope your mama's arm heals quickly and with no bad effects. Fingers crossed that she can get through the security gates after the pins are in - without the full body frisk for setting off the alarms!

I will definitely have your mom in my prayers. It's wonderful to see someone with the mindset of 'she took care of me, so I'm doing it for her in return' type of thing. It's weird how they transition into a child and we become the adult, in the sense of 'taking care of them'. It's so worth it though.

You're truly blessed, and so is your mom!

The only possible reason for a second EKG is they saw something they didn't like in the first one. We can be upset by all the tests but with all the lawsuits Doctors are being extra cautious.

I didn't get to comment on your update post about your mom - sorry to hear she took quite a fall - ouch! Nasty looking bruise on her chin! I agree that 2 EKGs 2 days in a row is a bit absurd! Praying that your mom gets well soon!
