Building memories

This is Gaige and Zack, they are both my grandsons, they are both 5 years old, they both live in the same town ,they will both start Kindergarten in the same school this year and they both love the come to Grammys house and ride bikes and play with the neighborhood kids. Sometimes I keep them both overnight, although usually I just keep one at a time. But occasionally they talk me into both of them staying together. Of course they first words out of their little mouths is ' we promise to be good Grammy". And they never are! ;)). They are just very energetic little boys that I love with all my heart. But, by the end of 24 hours with both of them together I am calling their parents saying " come and get them!"...lol.

But I want them to have good memories of staying at Grammys house. I have so many wonderful memories of both sets of my Grandparents. I want these 2 little boys to grow up having a close relationship. Neither one of them have a brother so this is the next best thing. And I think "Grandparent memories" are so healthy.

My brother has a son who is 6 months younger than my son. My brother has always lived away but the 2 boys, Ben (my son) and Russ ( my nephew), always managed to get together when my brother and sisterinlaw were in town. They had some good times together. Recently my nephew got married and he asked my son to be in his wedding. It does my heart good to see those 2 guys together. They have stayed close over all the years. Russ has since moved to our town and bought a house and Ben will go over and help him work on it when he needs help. I like to see them working together and helping each other out. Thats family - thats love.
I love my family, sometimes I may get mad at one or other of them...but it passes quickly..because we have a bond. Its called love. And there is no greater feeling than loving someone.

Grandchildren are just the best aren't they?

Every other Saturday we pick up our eldest son's three children and take them to my Dad's, where we meet up with my youngest son and his two boys, and my brothers. My brother's daughters (they have two each) are grown up now and living away from home but their boys (they have one each)still come to so it's quite a family affair as you can imagine.

Treasured memories to be sure!

with the kind of lifestyle my nieces and nephew have with their respective parents, I try to give them a little bit of normalcy. Mostly I try to give them love, time and attention. I end up giving them lots of memories that include fun!

Catch,
Looks like you've got a couple of champs there. Fortunately they have a great grammy to show them how to love.

My kids have very close comments with their cousins. They are more like siblings. They spend a lot of time together at each other's houses or at my MIL and FIL's house. They really love each other very, very much.

It is love that binds families together......that is for sure.

My son is one year older than his nephew Andrew, and they are very close. He lives in Texas now, but it is always Andrew that nick thinks of first.

My brother and I are not close, so I am glad to see that my kids are....

Lovely lovely memories you are building for those lads :)... I can only remember one nanny, she snuffed it when I was about 9, she was the only person in the world that loved me, after she had gone I stores all those wonderful memories on the shelves of me mind..... my lads dont have grandparents (well one set is alive but its the Xs side and they aint seen my lads for about 12 years tossers).. so I will have to make sure that the memories start with me...... I hope Ive given me lads some wonderful memories to take with them....... and one day, I will be a nanna... and I hope that the memories will be made for their kids... shame they wont have a grandad on this side though....

You my dear friend are a wonderful dear sweet nana :)
