Results

I did make it through the stress test, which I have to tell you is not so bad. Everyone was so kind to me and I was pretty relaxed all through it. I didnt have any results yesterday when I left the hospital. They did call me this morning with the results. They started off with my carotids are good, my echogram was good, however my stress showed up that one part of my heart is not getting enough blood or oxygen, so now I have to have a heart cath. The Doctor feels I may have a blockage.
I have really been in denial that this is my heart...I blamed it on gall bladder, tension, and a million other things....but now is time to face the music and just be happy that we caught it now before it became worse. I guess when he does the heart cath, if he finds blockage he will put a stent ( or stents) in then.
I am scheduled for the heart cath on the 31st of October. Everyone says its a piece of cake....and Im sure it is....until its you. And you all know what a big baby I am. But I am just trying to remain calm. I am kind of numb today since I just found all of this out today.
Thank you for all of your good thoughts and prayers, please continue them. The only way I got through the part of the test yesterday where I had to lay still for 24 minutes was by talking to God. When I wanted to jump up and run out of the hospital and deny all of this, I prayed and he calmed me.
I just want to get this all over with. I guess its time for a change of lifestyle.....no smoking, more exercise and a better diet. I guess I always knew it would come to this someday. My Father had open heart surgery twice. I will be updating....stick with me guys.

I read you often. I rarely comment. But I thought that I should let you know that the toughest part of a cardiac cath procedure is having to lay flat for a long period. They do give you something to relax you, so that part will be easy.

My husband has a heart condition. When he had a triple bypass (at 43 mind you), the guy in the bed next to him was 88 and having the same thing.

My brother has a heart condition. He had 6 stents put in last year THEN he drove from Arkansas to Chicago to a reunion.

You'll be okay. But yes, you do have to change your lifestyle (I am always known as the Queen of the Obvious, so forgive me).

My husband who had the triple bypass, then was diagnosed with congestive heart failure 10 years later, has led a clean life since then. His heart has been okay for the last 5 years and has been "healing" itself. He actually has 35% more capacity for blood flow than he used to ... so changing your lifestyle is a good thing.

I just thought I'd share that with you.

Hang tough. Be brave. You know you can do this.

of course we'll stick with you! Well I'm glad they you finally went to the doc and did the test and have some answers now, and its not all bad news - glad to hear you did have some good news in there, but sorry you have to have another test.

Kayla had a heart cath done last Aug if you remember. She had a coil placed because of a small PDA she had. I heard how it was a relatively easy procedure too, but you're right - its different when its happening to you (or your child!) I'll admit I was scared for Kayla and what she was going through...but you've met her! She's still full of spunk! and it was an outpatient procedure too so no overnight hospital stay.

I'll be keeping you in my prayers that they can fix the problem w/the cath.

Tom, my husband went through by pass surgery in 2000, and now he is in better shape than I am. haha

It is always scarey when it is your heart, but it is the one area that the Dr.'s can actually fix up with amazing success. I have been thinking about you and wondering how it all went. Be brave and do what your Dr. says, and toss your last pack of cigarettes away. I am rooting for you.....
