Young and Dumb

I have to tell you what I read in the newspaper tonight. A man in a wheelchair was at a gas station.....and somehow, obviously when he was going in front of this 18 wheeler his wheelchair handles got hooked onto the grill of the 18 wheeler! The 18 wheeler must have been getting ready to pull out and didnt know the wheelchair was hooked on to the front!!! So the man in the wheelchair got quite a ride till someone called the police!! The police said they thought it was a hoax until they seen it going down the freeway. I guess the man was belted in the wheelchair, otherwise Im sure he would have fell out. And no..it wasnt the Enquire..although it does sound like one of their stories. It was our local newspaper, even though it didnt happen around here. What a hoot that would have been to see that coming down the highway! I bet the guy in the wheelchair had to change his pants when that ride was over...hehe.

I remember when I was a teenager, and my friend had an older sister who was away at College. We always thought she was pretty worldly. When she would come home for the occasional weekend we would always try to hang around with her. At night when it was real late she would ride us on the hood of the car! One if us would get on the hood and hang onto the windowshield as good as we could and she would drive all over town! Can you imagine? If one of my kids would have done that I would have grounded them till they were 35. If my parents ever found out I would have been grounded forever!

I had a friend who had a small car...I think it was a fiat. He used to ride us girls around town late at night and he drove on all the sidewalks! We would laugh and cheer him on! Now I think how dumb was that?

Another thing we did was climb the fence to the public pool and swim naked! It was all girls! I would have been in so much trouble though. But I was always game for it!

One of my girlfriends Father had a girlfriend. (We didnt know that part then). He would say he was taking us to practice our driving and then he would stop at this bar and get out ( where obviously his girfriend was) and let us take the car! We, with no drivers license!.....of course we thought he was the neatest for letting us take the car. (Another thing my parents didnt know about.) The funny thing is when my friend found out her Father had a girlfriend she went to confront him about it ( her Mother and Father were not divorced, or even split up). She went into this place and he and said girlfriend were having a spaghetti dinner.....my girlfriend argued with her Father and then picked up one of the plates of spaghetti and dumped it on the girlfriends head! Then she ran to the car and locked the doors and took off! Can you imagine how much we giggled over that one?

I guess there are just some things your parents dont find out.....and while you thought you were just lucky you didnt get caught...you didnt realize you were lucky you lived through it!!! Now I kinda wonder how many things my kids have done that I havent found out about!

wow I bet that was a wild ride for the guy in the wheel chair.
as for the dumb stuff we did when we were young Yea I did a few things I didn't tell my parents about until after I had kids of my own. Once in awhile one of my kids (both now grown) will slip up and I will hear about stuff they did. I just gasp and think thank God they are alive to talk about it.

in the winter we used to tie a rope or two to the back of a car, and "ski" behind it.

it was fun

if my kids try anything like that i will kill them

What a perfect time for this post. Marissa is spending more time with her friends, and you know I did some crazy things when I was growing up too, thinking about wanting to know the crazy things she's doing, but I want her to have her fun too, so I guess some things I just DONT want to know.

You sure had some real FUN times Catch!

Catch,
I got into my share of "mischief", as a kid, and I'm sure my kids have stories I'd just as soon not hear. Children/teens misbehaving, was tolerated more by society in those days. Today I'd have ended up in jail, or at least reform school.

My friend was telling me only the other day that she had a boyfriend who drove an enormous waggon. She used to go with him on his deliveries and one day the police stopped them on the motorway just as they'd left the services. They were shocked to find a MINI stuck on the front bumper!

I daren't confess to what I used to get up to when I was younger (a) because my Dad doesn't know and (b) I don't want my boys to find out! Suffice to say by the law of averages I shouldn't be here! :(

It's amazing what we've lived through isn't it? I'd have loved to see the spaghetti dumping...

My kids have strict instructions to never, ever, tell me what mischief they got up to when they were growing up. I didn't torture my Mother with my bad behavior, I don't want to know about theirs!

That is wild about the wheelchair....in a sad sort of way...and boy can I relate to things my parents didn't know...but I am glad I survived!

I can think of a few I'd rather strap to the front of my bus...out where I didn't have to listen to them. As for things your kids haven't told you- mine tell me something once in a while- and I wonder why I keep getting grayer, and grayer...

Margaret has that same story. I read another account that said he had a cup of pop that he spilled all over the front of himself. Wasn't that lucky.
I never did anything I couldn't tell my parents. there must have been something wrong with me.

There is so much of my 'wild' years that is just a 'blank'...I wonder if that is for my sanity (or lack of)
There are just some things that a parent just doesn't need to know.

Skinny dipping is the best way to swim. Unless the water is cold. Not too good for a guys ego.

What fun stories! When my sisters get together they have lots of tales too, but me...maybe too many dead brain cells to remember a lot... ;) I so do not want to hear my own kids stories! Not yet anyway. Thanks for taking us with you down memory lane.
