Just to let you know.....my Mothers wrist IS infected. I spent the evening at the Emergency Room again tonight. I think it was infected Friday, or at least starting to be infected. He started her on an antibiotic this evening( he should have done that 3 days ago) and we have to call the Dr's office at 9 am and make arrangements to be there for him to take the pins out. She was in pain all day today....and this evening it was all swollen and red. More so than it was before.
I was hoping he would admit her and put her on antibiotics interveniously. She is a diabetic so I do worry about getting this infection cleared up. And I wonder how he is going to take the pins out....surely he will put her to sleep.....the area is already so sore, I cant imagine him pulling out the pins .....
I will keep you posted....Im about ready to blow my stack.

I hope she gets better
I think your quite within your rights to blow your stack.
Hugz to your mum, and HUGE hugz to you ((((((((catch)))))))) all will come out in the wash, you will see :)......
xxxxx
Pardon my French but for f*****ks sake was the doctor blind last week? Even from the photo we could all tell it was infected! Your poor mum must be in agony. Hope the ABs kick in soon and it clears up. Sending Reiki to your Mum to help with the healing, if that's OK.
I am sorry it is infeted and that she is in such pain - you have every right to ask for your requests..be up front and be your Mom's advocate..
I called the Doctors office this morning to get her in and they told me the Dr wasnt in today!!! That is when I blew my stack!!!! They are paging him in surgery and we will take her to the hospital to get the pins out...and I told them we arent waiting around all day for that either! She can be here at home till he is ready for her.If you are a Dr and are reading this....do you ever wonder why you have so many malpractice suits????????? A little professional courtesy is all most people ask for...sign me....Pissed.
you should be pissed off!
man oh man.
i sure hope she gets in fast and they fix her up! (I also agree, at her age, with diabetes she should be in overnight!)
Plus if she is in overnight you can have a stiff drink, and you sound like you need one catch!
Fingers crossed Catch. I'll be thinking about you both! x
Keep your clamness. Let your mom know that you are working for her. I agree with you that this should have been attended to before it got to this state. Even if you are burning up inside let your mom see your smile and make her laugh. This helps in the healing. If you have a private time with the Doc. let him or her know of your displeasure with the situation. It may be like water off a duck but at least you will be able to vent. A speedy healing to your mother (and You).
Hang tough girl...I'm sending prayers & cyberhugs your way!! Keep us updated please...
I have learned from bitter experience that doctors are often wrong. Stand firm and fight for your mother. We will pray for her.
catch,
It is your right as a patient and as your mothers caregiver to get answers. If you and your mom have lost faith in this doc, by all means get another one! A diabetic has many challenges and needs a doc that can handle them. Don't stop "rocking" the boat until you get the answers and the doc your mom deserves. hugsssssssssss
I would be pissed too! I'm so sorry to hear about the situation w/your mom's wrist! I can't imagine the pain she must be feeling. I hope they can get her in to get the pins out soon!
