opinions please
I want some opinions on this ......please. Some of my friends and I were discussing presidents and some of the things they have done. Well of course we got around to wild Bill Clinton. I said that while , I am not sticking up for him, I feel that when he had his little fling with Monica I feel that he owed no explanation to the public. It was a private matter and should have been kept that way. He is not the first President to get a hooter in the White House I am sure. Some things are better left unsaid....that was one of them. If I had been Bill Clinton I would have said..." sorry, but I have a private life and that is part of it." I wouldnt have lied about it, I would have just said its not up for discussion. The media had a field day with it....we all have told our Monica/Bill jokes. But I dont think it affected the way he was running this country....and you know I really wonder what they will put in the history books about it. How in the world would you explain it tactfully to children? And his poor daughter...can you imagine the embarrassment she went through? There is not one of us out there who wants to know whether our fathers got a hooter or not. This child had to hear it and know the whole world knew about it.
So what is your opinion on it? And understand I am not saying Bill Clinton has any morals....or Monica Lewinsky for that matter...I am just saying it was a private matter. Not only did it make him look like an idiot, when he lied about it it made him a liar. But how many men do you think would have lied about it? Im betting quite a few. Whats your take on it????

What's really interesting is that it didn't seem to make people dislike him--in fact people liked him more! I still like him myself.
However, I agree with you on the matter of poor Chelsea, having to hear all that mess as a young girl. I also agree it was a private matter, just like infidelity in a regular marriage. I don't think he should have lied, that did make it worse.I think it was a bad decision made hastly to lie. Basically, they should have known better. The press was not going to roll over on that one. Are you kidding?
I think most people saw it as they are two people married and they're still regular people--who happen to president and first lady, and they could care less about some affair as long as he ran the country to their liking. Hey, that sounds alright to me.
If he would have just admitted it in the first place it would not have mattered at all. Most people did not give a rip that he had got a little on the side. It doesn't look like Hillary gave a rip either.
I really liked Clinton and I agree with you. It was a private matter and too many people got wrapped up in it. People love to jump on the anger bandwagon. Especially if it involves putting someone else down.If he had not of lied it would not have been so bad. But every president lies at some point. And I would rather it be about a hummer than weapons of mass destruction. I don't believe any man would have been honest on that one anyway. I feel bad for him on the issue. Granted it was wrong. But he is not just the president he is human. He is not the first or last president to have an affair. He just got caught.JFK is very loved and even though there is no DNA proof as with Clinton, every one knows he very likely if not definately had a affair with Monroe.
numbah one... ive never heard of the term hooter.....
numbah two, i think that while he should not hhave lied he shoud never have been qwuestioned about it in teh first place. that wopuld be like the media going insane asking MY hubby if he had a BJ from some chick at work, its none of their bussiness nor should anyone care. just because Bill clinton was in public office does not mean his private life was up for meda grabs!
numbah three.. im canadian so i think my opinion isnt worth the paper its written on....
I always feel like it's dangerous to discuss politics in an open forum, it's asking for problems. I usually refrain from such discussions :)
Hooter that was funny!!
I don't vote so I have no opinion, but if you want my two cents, I would rather he still be in office then who we have ;) that's my story and I am sticking to it.
hmmm, thinking..well i'm too idealistic so my opinion would such that people that choose to be in the public eye for politics or entertainment are subject to scrutiny..and also that when we screw up we should lie about it..there is the poor Chelsea angle and it is horrible but that was her dad's choice to take the chance and not choose to put family first. but really that's just my opinion.
gunngirl: it sounds all right to me too! ty for your opinion!
Fuzz: exactly!I think all Hilary wanted to do was save face.
Mimi:yes, it seemed that JFK could get away with anything and we all still liked him.
Paint: well I was trying to think of a word to describe it without saying what it really was...lol
Phats: I agree with you on that one! (about him still being in office)
Chana: thats where he really screwed up..when he chose to lie.
Dr John: yes..your right, this country tends to like jerks..and now we have an idiot! lol
I absolutly agree with you Catch, An
affair between 2 people is a private matter, no matter who you are. It would be different if he had been involved in stealing money etc. His daughter should never have been dragged thorugh it. I don't blame Clinton for lying at first, he was probebly trying to protect his daughter, if he was just an ordinary man, hopefully he would have been honest. Joe would never think of doing that to me, not only because of how he loves me, but he's scared s@#*&% of my red headed temper!
Have a great day
K.
It was a private matter but it was in the WHITE HOUSE where he was taking phone calls from WORLD LEADERS!! They should not have been doing this while they were working is my point. I think since he is the most powerful man on earth, he can arrange to have his fling someplace else that is ....let's see....a private place rather than a puclic one! And then he lies about it on top of that???? He puts himself before all his friends and family and embarrasees them. This is a classic case of someone who thinks he can do something immoral and wrong and get away with it even though all the evidence proves otherwise.
Aren't you glad you asked my opinion?
Hey catch,
Check this hope it helps
do u have ur graphic's link?
I really wish he would have resigned once caught in the lie. Your suggestion is top notch and he would have done well t'have you on his staff....er, well, you know what I mean.
Anyway, fer crying out loud, once he sterted lying about it, he was stuck as the "liar" instead of a president with a loose dick, or cigar, or whatever it was that shifted the morals police onto him. If he had resigned, Gore would have been in, and at the time, it would have been counted as a term, but then maybe, just maybe, if he was doing OK, he might have beaten bush. Well, he DID beat bush, at least by population, but, maybe he would have gotten the electorial votes needed.
On the other hand, just before him was another president, near caught lying (his good men threw themselves on the handgrenade, though, eh?) and doing whatever with drugs and guns and money. Arming osama bin laden and training their talibaners....
And then Nixon, and though most feel his lie was the waterghate thing, I feel they missed the big one. The one where he acted the hero in getting us out of Viet Nam.
Dang!
While serving as VP for Eisenghour, he's the one who got troops and the cia into Viet Nam in the first place!
Then this last jerkwater, dang! I can't fathom why that even with all the testimony of generals, secretyaries and others in charge, why was the whole thing dismissed because the paper that was being used to get the ball rolling was a computer generated piece of....
so much fer evidence, eh? The people involved all said he didn't serve (except for just seven of his close friends) and yet, he walks with an honorable discharge and a "war record"....
Then, there's the iraq thing. He lies when he says that other agencies told him that stuff he used to get us into war. The fact of the matter is, or at least WAS, that HE is the Commander in Chief. Everything that came through those agencies went through him. He was their boss. He is the one who picked what he wanted t'see.
'Course now, he set up a stooge, a scapegoat. Now he's untouchable, eh?
And, as ronnie and his daddy sold arms and weapons and info and training to osama, dubya has gone and sold fighter jets to musharef and pakistan....
That can't be good news.
I think that if'n yer in the white house, you can lie all ya want.
But, ya shouldn't.
But, dang, gal.
If ol' clinton reads this here blog, he's gonna piss himself, cause your answer is absolutely great.
And right.
Tain't nobody's biznis but his.
Karen: Im sure joe would never do that to you.....regardless of your temper...lol
Lori: I agree it shouldnt have been done in public...but if they hadnt made it such a big deal it wouldnt have been one. And yes I am still glad I ask for your opinion...lol
Rawad: will try this...and thank you..your so kind!
Boneman: Clinton called me today...he has offered to pay me big bucks to run his next campaign....lol
I'm from a different country... But we all found it quite amusing how much was made of the hooter...
he seemed to be a smart president that had some ideals about the country... had a vision for a future... he seemed as though he could formulate a coherant sentence and we listened to him beyond your borders, and thought that there was someone at the helm...
the hooter thing seemed pretty ridiculous at best... and for all the knowledgable reporters grappling to get an interview with someone that gave a blowjob... pretty sad...
now, we listen to the daily show for our reporting on your country... and what would history think of that?
