The year is 1965 and my x- husband and I are going to the Prom, his senior, my junior. The Prom was a big deal back then. All the girls would get their hair done in the morning, my hair was long so it was up in curls. Then we would come home, do our nails and just spend the day getting ready for that night. Friends and relatives would come to the house to see you in your gown.

We double dated with friends of ours that we always went out with. Bruce and Carolyn ended up getting married too and I am happy to say they are still married.

I was on the Prom Court that year, but I was only a junior , so I couldnt get it for Queen. But it was neat to be voted for the Prom Court. I was on the Prom Court in my senior year but didnt pick the right color flower :((

I didnt have to be home that night till 2 am!!! I was so excited!! Usually I had to be in at midnight, but Dad made an exception since it was the Prom. Wow, 2am, I felt like an adult!

The next day we went to the Pittsburg Zoo. We had a lot of fun. We took a picnic basket full of food. My Mom fried chicken for us.

I dont know about these kids today. It doesnt seem like they have as much fun as we did. I can remember it like it was yesterday. I have a lot of good memories, this is one of them.

Catch, you two made a great looking couple. Loved your hairstyle. Your dad must have been a really COOL Dad to let you stay out so late!
I went to my Junior Prom and then my Senior prom with my husband at my school, and his was the rival HS, but we both had friends from both, which made it kinda nice. Fried chicken at the Zoo does sound like lots of fun. The funnest date with my husband I remember, when we were younger my husband loved to speed, so we drove the freeway like the autobon to Magic Mountain in CA. I'll never forget that day, or the day he locked the keys in his trunk when we went to the beach! Here's to FUN TIMES!! :P

DB: yes my hair was tall! lol. Everyones was! And if it wasnt tall enough we teased it for hours making it taller! Sounds like you may have need Drivers Training! lol

Christine : I can see you have special memories to...I went with my X all through high school too. Its funny we ended up divorced after all those years.

Thank You Tina. Everyone should have a Prom....its a great occasion.

I love a fried chicken picnic basket when the weather is perfect and the surroundings are beautiful. I even love to spread out a cloth on the ground and also have a bottle of nice white wine. Oh no. I think you are making me want to go on a picnic. :)

Prom is very much alive and well, although I think more kids are going in bigger groups than one-on-one dates. I think it's probably safer that way.

These days, prom is much more expensive.

I was following the story very well until you mentione dthe fried cheicken. Now it is all I can think about! YUM! LOL! I do agree that prom is not as special anymore. Most kids just show long enough to show off their clothe sthen go to a hotel for a party.

I moved around so much I never went to prom with somebody that I cared more for than just a friend. Prom time with my daughters was so much fun, shopping and accessorizing, the handsome young men sitting in the library all nervous and embarrassed. **sigh** those were good old days.

What a beautiful picture Catch, how wonderful that you kept them!
When Joe's mom and dad separated, she cut up every single picture of him. Joe only has one picture of his mom and dad together. For our wedding Joe's mom and dad stood together with us for a picture. The first time in over 20 years they stood next to each other! it is very special

Here the parents go up and watch .The pictures were very nice. The boy I was going with in highschool did not dance so we did not go to the dance.

You guys look so cute! I think you are right. Kids don't have as much fun now. They are too grown up and everything is so serious.

i was born in 65 ... so I'm betting it was a better time. i think i would have fit in better back then. i really feel my parents and grandparents had the best lifestyle in the USA. things move so fast now. we are so used to moving on to the next thing to fill a "need". my parents raised me in that "slow" way of life. i only dated one other girl before i met my best friend/girlfriend/wife. and we dated until we finished college, bought a house, i moved in and fixed it up and we got married. i wish we (my wife and i) had that slower life.
